Criminal Matters We Handle
We represent clients charged with misdemeanors and selected felonies in New York City and nearby courts. Our focus is on understanding the facts, evaluating the evidence, and protecting your rights.
What to Expect in Criminal Court
Arraignment
Your first court appearance. Charges are read, you enter a plea, and bail/release conditions are discussed. This is critical—we prepare you thoroughly and argue for your release.
Conferences and Discovery
We review the prosecutor's evidence, learn the facts of the case, and explore whether settlement is possible. We demand discovery and examine police reports, witness statements, and other evidence.
Motions and Hearings
We file motions to suppress evidence, dismiss charges, or challenge the prosecutor's case. Successful motions can result in dismissal or weakening of the prosecution.
Trial or Plea
If settlement is not reached, we prepare for trial. We challenge the prosecution's evidence, examine witnesses, and present your defense. Many cases resolve through negotiated plea agreements.
Sentencing
If you are convicted or plead guilty, we prepare for sentencing. We advocate for the most favorable outcome, considering your history, the facts, and applicable guidelines.
